Chapter Six

*Now this chapter is my favorite*

Chapter 6

“…13.”

As soon as she said that word Chase popped in and said, “Great Job everyone. Let’s get this school back to normal. We have 35 minutes!”

“Come on guys! Put your hands in!” Brady said. Everyone starts to groan or roll their eyes. They put their hands in anyway and chanted, “Team who? Team what? Team Rainbow! Go! GO! GO!” Wow! This family has issues! I felt a little sorry for Brady, though. He seemed like a regular middle child, they were loved, just not much as everyone else; or was that only in fairytales? Well, either way I knew this wasn’t a fairytale or a daydream. It was more like a new nightmare that will keep coming until I faced the real problem that was bugging me. Maybe that’s it! This could just be all a dream! I start to think of things that could have bugged me for the past few days, weeks, years anything to get me out of this mess.

“Cam there’s a lot more you’ll have to go through until you’re out of this mess,” Griffin said with true pity dripping his voice, but not the good kind of pity, like aw I want to go help her. No, more like aw there’s a homeless person on the side of the road, they must have done something really stupid to have ended up in that situation. When I thought about it I realized I really did do something stupid. I mean look at me! I fell for I guy I just met. I brought all of this on myself.

I was very surprised to hear a girl’s voice next to me when I came back from my thoughts. She just looked at me, smiled, and said, “You know I’ve always wanted a big sister.”

“Well I’ve always wanted a little sister, but I don’t see that happening.” She frowned when I said this.

“That’s what the last girl sa-“She stopped herself short, like she already said too much. Whatever, she can think what she wants to think.

“Oh I do think what I want and what you think and what Asher thinks. It get’s annoying to hear all of these voices in you’re head and not even wanting them to be there!” She sounded like she was about to have a mental breakdown. I wanted to give her a hug, but when I tried to move I remembered the fact that I was still tied in very thick rope.

“Oh, that’s not rope and thank you. That means a lot. I don’t get to many hugs.” That’s when the realization hit. This girl was thirteen and she’s working for a… I don’t even know what.

“Were backbiters,” She saw the confused look on my face and said, “A.KA. Assassins, if you want to get technical,” She said it like she says it everyday.

“Okay then. Um… so,” I had to remember what she said her name was. “Aubrey do you think you could help me escape?”

“Funny that’s what everyone asks. I don’t know why, though. I’m not much help and if I did help you then we wouldn’t get to ask you questions. I love 20 questions it’s my favorite game,” She said with a smile. Maybe she really did need a big sister and apparently I’m the only one her who can do so.

“Hey, Aubrey, if you won’t help me escape, then I guess we’ll have to hang out with each other a lot, and I would love to get to know you.”

“What are you saying?” She asked with big hopeful eyes.

“What I’m saying is… I’ll be your big sister.” She started to break out in dance and I would have joined her, but I’m still tied up.

“They’ll untie you soon don’t worry,” She looked down at her watch and said, “Oh! We only have 15 minutes left. I have to go!”

“Okay Aubrey, go do your thing. Whatever that is!” I say. I mean why not give the kid a pep talk?

As she walked away Asher turns so we can look each other in the eyes and he says, “Cam whatever happens to us I just want you to know that I…-“I cut him off with a kiss. I know, I know I said I didn’t like him that way, but I just wanted to see what it felt like… and it was… well…

I open my eyes and see Asher staring at me with a smile on his face and I couldn’t help but smile back. If you haven’t guessed that was my first kiss. I mean I never had a boyfriend before. That’s probably why I fell head first for Griffin, but now I don’t have to worry. Asher leans in again and I go with it. He puts his arms around my waist and I put my arms around his neck and we just stand there. It felt like we were the only ones there and that this horrible day never started either that or is now ending. That’s when we hear someone groan and cough. I look over to see Luke standing there.

He says, “Asher will you stop screaming your thoughts it’s making everyone nauseous. You to Cammie,” I blush then he walks away. We stop kissing and look at each other. It felt okay to ask him a question so I did.

I asked,”So was that your first kiss?”

He says, “Yeah… you?”

“Yes, uh yeah it was.” I say, “Can I ask you another question?”

“Shoot,” He said with a smile on his face.

“Well it’s really two, but anyways. Uh this one is a little odd, but you’ll have to deal with it. Was it good?”

He answered with a scoff and leaned in to kiss me again, but instead he kisses my forehead, which still felt good and he says, “Yes,” and then backs away to look me in the eyes. “What’s the second one?”

“Well this one is more awkward than the other, but since you answered the other one fine I think you can handle this.”

He just laughs. So I asked, “What were you, uh, thinking about?” I looked up to see a very playful look on his face.

He answers me with this, “I was thinking about how long I have waited for that moment… and some other stuff,” he said that with a cocky smile on his face, which made me blush two times more than I had when Luke came over.

“Now it’s your turn. What were you thinking about?”

“I’m glad it was you and not Griffin.” I said this without blinking.

“I heard that!” Came a shout from somewhere across the room.

“Well it’s true! You got your wish you won’t be doing anything like that to me anytime soon or at all. So back atcha!” I turn back to Asher, just in time to see him glaring in Griffin’s direction.

When he sees that I was looking at him through the corners of his eyes he turns to me and asks, “What?”

“Oh, nothing…”

‘You are a horrible liar. You know that right?” I just punch him in the arm lightly because we were still in the rope thing that turned out not to be rope. I start to look around and see that everything is starting to go back to normal, well as normal as getting kidnapped could be. Everyone was still in their seats and out principal was standing up front as if he was giving a big lecture about how marvelous this school was and a bunch of other useless information, because why would parents be sending their kids here if they didn’t already know this?

Chase yells from somewhere behind the bleachers, “Hey someone untie them from themselves and then cuff their hands together!” So Jasmine and Henry come over and untied us then tied us again, oh joy, but in a way it was a joy, I mean I got to hang out with my best friend or whatever we were now. They walk us out of the building and to a limousine with, which seemed like a little too tinted windows. Asher and I were put into a big enough trunk that we could sit up and by an inch not bump heads; I guess that was their way of being gracious. We get kind of thrown in there and after a few minutes of situating ourselves were both sitting up straight. Asher fixed himself on the left side of the trunk, so I guess that means I was over there too. He pulls me over to him so I could lean on his chest. It was a lot softer than I thought it would be. I mean he told me that he works out an hour everyday. Now that I thought of it I think he was trying to impress me. That made me laugh a little.

Asher looks me in the eyes, which was kind of hard because the trunk was dark, besides the light coming from the security camera, and he asks, “What’s so funny?”

“You,” I say in response.

“Excuse me?”

“You’re excused,” that made him chuckle. Which made me think; maybe this isn’t the worst in the world…
