Chapter seven

Chapter 7

We’ve been in the trunk for about three hours while everyone else was in the front of the limo having a grand old time plotting what they were going to do to us next. In the mean time Asher and I were talking about all the other things that wouldn’t have been comfortable to talk about unless we were in a relationship. Wow I never thought I would say that word especially when it was including Asher and it not implying friendship.

I let out a little whimper and Asher asks, “What’s wrong Cammie?”

“I was just wondering…”

“About?” He asks with true curiosity.

“Why didn’t we get together earlier?”

“Well I would have liked too, but I didn’t think you would. I kept thinking that I would rather have you in my life than not at all, so I kept quiet. Well I was quiet and loving in peace until Griffin came along with that, and I quote, ‘great smile,’ of his, and I knew I had to kick it into high gear.”

“It worked, especially when you picked me up when I was about to throw up. May I say that was quite impressive.”

“Thank you, I try.”

“Oh I can see you do and a little to hard at that.”

“I hope you know…”

“Know…?” I ask.

“Know that it was all for you.” I snuggle more into his chest and I close my eyes. For some reason he starts to sing to me. I never knew he was that good, and in about five minutes I was asleep in the most wonderful place in the earth.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
About an hour later I wake up in a cold sweat. I had a dream that Griffin and his family were all coming after me with chainsaws and axes. I kept hearing a loud noise echoing wherever we were and then I heard “maybe Asher was right, Griffin is an axe murder”. Good thing I woke up then. I turn and see that Asher fixated us onto the floor of the trunk, it was a lot more comfy than it looked. He also got his arms to hug me even more to him, somehow that was possible. I didn’t want to wake him, but apparently it was too late.
He opens one of his eyes slightly and smiles sleepily. He says, “I had the best dream ever.” I wanted to hear what was so amazing about this dream, so I didn’t interrupt. He continues and says, “You finally fell for me and then we kissed and we never pulled away.”
I smile and say, “That wasn’t a dream.” I lean in and we kiss for at least five minutes, but then there was a quick light rap on the trunk door telling us to get ready and stop. When the door opens we see Aubrey standing there with something in her hands.
“Here,” she says, “eat this. Were at a gas station and I knew you guys must be starving.” She hands us two sandwiches, one turkey and provolone, Asher’s favorite, and the other a BLT, my favorite. I didn’t ask her how she knew, all I knew was that I was glad that she did. We finish both of our sandwiches in about 30 seconds.
She smiles devilishly at us and me and Asher ask at the same time, “What?”
“I gave you guys the inteblantition! Now you guys can know if they’re going to do anything bad to you and then you can defend yourselves!”
For the second time in a row Asher and I ask, “WHAT!” but with more anger than curiosity.
“Oh trust me they won’t know what happened.”
“Still! What made you think we would be okay with this?” Asher asks.
“I was just trying to be helpful. I’m sorry.”
She looked like she was on the verge of tears so I say, “No, no, no, it’s okay. Asher was just a little surprised, right Asher.
“Uh.. Yeah… sorry about that.”
“I can still hear your guys’ thoughts so you can stop now.”
“No, Its ok.” Asher said, “I would like to know if I was about to die or not.”
I chime in saying, “Yeah me too.”
“Okay that makes me feel better,” she said this with rolling her eyes I smile.
“Well you guys might experience, nausea, drowsiness, extreme hormone emphases, and you won’t hear the voices for about another 24 hour time period.” She rattles the symptoms off as if she were a doctor.
I ask, “Wait what does the second to last one mean?”
“Good question. It means that when you usually feel an emotion while doing something, it would be about ten times stronger than normal and might make you want to tell the truth, but that only happens to an unlikely 25%.” I look at Asher and blush. He laughs when he sees that.
“Okay so when does this thing kick in?” Asher asks
“In about ten seconds. Oh! There coming! Be sure to keep most of your thoughts to yourselves!”
“Bye!” We yell.
“Well that was interesting.” Asher says.
“Yeah well, it will be worth it, I think.”
“Yeah, me too.” Right then I got a surge of what felt like thoughts and emotions go into my brain and it felt like my veins were getting infested with them too.
“Asher do you feel that too?”
“Yeah.”
I laugh and say, “I’m kind of scared.”
He hugs me and says, “Me too. Me too.” Just then I wanted to scream “I love you Asher!” at the tops of lungs. I wanted the whole world to know. By the look on his face I think I just said that out loud.
“I love you too, Cam, I have wanted to say it for a long time. Marry me!” Asher looks at me and asks, “Did I just say that out loud?”
“Kind of…”
“What does that mean?”
“You said it, but you didn’t mean it. The inteblantition is talking for you.”
“I don’t know about that.’
“Asher.”
“Yes.”
“You know we can’t actually get married right?”
“I know,” He said with a sigh of sadness. I kiss him on the cheek and then he kisses me on the cheek. I kiss him on the other and he copies my movements but on me. Finally we kiss each other on the face until there’s nowhere else left to kiss but his lips. It was more passionately this time and now nothing was interrupting us.
