Chapter 4

As we walked to the gymnasium I noticed everything was really quiet. I mean, yes, classes were going on, but usually about 15- 20 people are out of them wandering around, gossiping, or coming out of the bathrooms. Instead of all of those things, the whole hallway was empty except Griffin, Asher, and me. I kept thinking weird, maybe an assembly is going on or something. In about five seconds I got my answer. It was in neither of those categories. It was how do I put this? What happened was that the people that killed my father had somehow gotten into the building of some of the most protected walls in America. After all, this is a school for the rich (and smart, but that's not why it’s decked out with security cameras).

When we get the gym everyone is laying motionless starring at a screen. All three of us huddle together and start to walk where all 600 students were sitting (Asher in the front, me behind him, and Griffin taking up the rear). As we walk to the first person, I think that was name Elizabeth a girl in the ninth grade, all of us at once see that she wasn't starring at the screen on the wall she had her eyes closed. The next thing we see are that her hands are bound to her seat and that her head and body are made to stay up by some concoction that climbed up the back of her spine. As we continue to walk in formation we see that everyone else is in the exact same circumstances.That’s when I saw my step dad. He seemed the same as everyone else, but he kept moaning like he was in a great deal of pain. Wow this is really weird.

I couldn't help but think that maybe this was some weird and deranged new psychology study that had to be tested on the most eligible kids in America and their parents, but I knew better. Oh god why is this happening? I asked Him without even thinking about double thinking that. See ever since God let him... it still pains me to say just give me a second... my father, die I haven't spoken to Him. By golly! I will not start now! Where was He when that happened? Where was He when my mom got married to a man she barely new? No not going there today. That’s when I saw the black spots daring me to fall to the ground. There’s too much on your plate, Cam, I said to myself. Just breathe in slow calming breathes.

When I finally calmed down something made a swooshing sound to my right. Then to my left, but in a flash I see someone come up behind Asher, Griffin, and me. In about less than six seconds were all tied together or so I thought. Asher gasps and I just stand frozen like I did just a few hours ago when I first laid eyes on those sparkling blue eyes.
